On Sunday July 14th, the highly anticipated 24th annual Highland Gathering festival once again drew crowds from all over the region. Harpenden Lions Club are the team behind the event. Rothamsted Park in Harpenden provided the perfect location and even the sunshine made an appearance too.
We were delighted to continue our support for this very popular event. Our employees fully embraced the event and atmosphere on the day. With its annual Scottish-based theme, the event included five pipe and drum bands, highland dancing competitions and displays, as well as solo piping. Plus there was traditional highland games heavy events including ‘weight over the bar’, ‘tossing the caber’ and ‘putting the stone’. For the children, there was a One Mile Fun Run to help burn off some energy as well.
Our team from our Harpenden branch had prime location to feel the atmosphere, providing a Scottish-themed hamper as first prize in the raffle. There were also fantastic hotel and wine tasting gift vouchers as second and third prizes. Our Children’s lucky dip also proved extremely popular too.
We are proud to continue supporting this event and our local community. All the money raised was donated to Harpenden Lions Club and their nominated charity, Keech Hospice Care.
